The Merc Raises A Glass To Betty White With New Deadpool-Themed Photo

In honor of Betty White's 96th birthday, the Merc With a Mouth has raised a glass to one of the industry's all-time greats with this cheeky Deadpool pic.

At 96 years young, Betty White is a true living legend. And that’s not a phrase we use lightly.

The Golden Girls actress has been a cornerstone of the entertainment industry for almost a century, and in honor of that unprecedented success, the Merc With a Mouth has raised a glass to Betty White on this, her 96th birthday.

Over on Twitter, the official Deadpool account Tweeted out a photo (with the caption: “Happy Birthday to the one and only @BettyMWhite. Cheers to another year of ‘Tinis and Weenies!”) of Wade Wilson suited up and doing what he does best: celebrating the life and legacy of Betty White. It’s by no means the first time that Reynolds has honored the pop culture icon, as fans will know that the Merc’s twin katanas are named “Bea” and “Arthur” after Beatrice Arthur, another member of the Golden Girls ensemble. We’re sensing a pattern here…

Aside from ‘Tinis and Weenies and weapons of mass carnage, part of Deadpool’s (and, by effect, Ryan Reynold’s) adoration of Betty White can be traced back to their work on The Proposal, the schmaltzy rom-com in which they shared the screen with Ocean’s 8 star Sandra Bullock.

Mind you, after such an illustrious career in front of the camera, how could you not love Betty White? The great actress turns 96 today, and we wish her all the very best.

Deadpool, on the other hand, continues to be the gold standard of superhero marketing. Even when 20th Century Fox has nothing to show, Ryan Reynolds and the team always have a timely Tweet or irreverent photo to share, and on this occasion, they’ve taken their collective hat off to one of the industry’s greats. Expect Reynolds to reprise his role as the Merc when David Leitch’s comic book sequel drops on May 18th – two whole weeks earlier than initially expected.
