Iron Spider in Avengers: Infinity War

The Russos Are Open To Doing More Marvel Movies After Avengers 4

After directing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and the currently untitled Avengers 4, you couldn't blame Joe and Anthony Russo for wanting a break from all things superheroes and spandex. Those are four gigantic productions that have no doubt taken a tremendous amount of effort and work to piece together, and one imagines that the Russos might be burnt out on the genre at this point. But apparently, that's not the case.

In fact, not only are they not tired of the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet, but they’re also interested in working with the House of Ideas on future projects post-Avengers 4. Speaking on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast – which has yielded tons of interesting tidbits today – Anthony expressed his desire to stay on board the franchise, saying “we would certainly be open to working with them [again].”

That being said, he made clear that no talks have taken place yet regarding future endeavours, stating:

“We haven’t talked about doing anything beyond these two movies simply because we still have a mountain to climb with these next two films.”

Going one step further, he then explained why their experience with the studio has been such a positive one.

“Our relationship with Marvel has been one of the strongest creative relationships we’ve had in our careers. We’re really proud of the movies we’ve been able to make with them and we’ve had an amazing time doing it.

So, can we expect the Russos to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers 4? And if so, which film could they turn their attention to? Those are questions that obviously can’t be answered right now, but we wouldn’t rule it out. If they do direct something else for the studio, though, we don’t imagine it’d be anytime soon.

After all, they’ll surely need a break first and will no doubt want to focus on other projects that have probably been pushed to the side over the past few years, due to the massive commitment they’ve had to Marvel. Still, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see them perhaps return for Phase 4 and given how successful they’ve been with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes so far, we can only hope that that turns out to be the case.
