Brie Larson Takes Down A Goon In First Captain Marvel Set Video

It's been a very, very busy week for Captain Marvel, as the production has kicked into high gear from seemingly out of nowhere. That's because it's just beginning to set up shop in Los Angeles – new California tax incentives drew Marvel Studios away from its home base in Atlanta – and the set photos and videos are starting to pour in.

It’s been a very, very busy week for Captain Marvel, as the production has kicked into high gear from seemingly out of nowhere. That’s because it’s just beginning to set up shop in Los Angeles – new California tax incentives drew Marvel Studios away from its home base in Atlanta – and the set photos and videos are starting to pour in.

We’ve already gotten our first look at Brie Larson in costume as Carol Danvers, but in a departure from what some fans expected, her suit wasn’t the familiar red, blue and gold ensemble from the comics. Rather, it was a vivid green and black number. While she’ll no doubt be undergoing a wardrobe change at some point during the film – or perhaps they’ll save it until Avengers 4 – we’ve now get yet another peak at the controversially colored suit, and this time it comes in the form of a video.

Taken from the same scene that those initial set photos were from, the clip below provides an extremely brief glimpse of Larson in action, seemingly taking down a goon who’s clearly no match for her. Again, it’s not very much and those who’ve already laid eyes on those set photos will surely find it familiar – but we’ll take what we can get.

Unfortunately, it’ll probably be a while before we have the chance to see much more of the pic. Captain Marvel is still gestating in the formative stages of development, after all, and Marvel Studios still has other matters to attend to – namely Black Panther, Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp – before it devotes its full attention to the Brie Larson-fronted spinoff.

Make no mistake about it, though, the wheels are in motion and story-wise, we know Carol Danvers initially rose through the ranks of the United States Air Force and was later appointed by NASA as head of security. From there, her DNA is fused with that of an alien during a near-fatal accident, resulting in the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight. So it’s small wonder why Kevin Feige believes she’ll be the strongest addition to the MCU in years.

Featuring a story from Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who was brought in to flesh out the original treatment from Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve, Captain Marvel will be with us on March 8th, 2019.
