New Captain Marvel Set Photos Provide A Better Look At Brie Larson’s Costume

After a year and half of waiting to see Brie Larson suited up as Captain Marvel, our first look at the MCU's Carol Danvers was surprisingly met with a mixed reception when a photo leaked from set the other day. Many fans either didn't like the unexpected green colour scheme or criticized the leather material that was used. Suffice it to say, it didn't go over too well.

After a year and half of waiting to see Brie Larson suited up as Captain Marvel, our first look at the MCU’s Carol Danvers was surprisingly met with a mixed reception when a photo leaked from set the other day. Many fans either didn’t like the unexpected green colour scheme or criticized the leather material that was used. Suffice it to say, it didn’t go over too well.

Now, we’ve got a new batch of photos which give us a much clearer look at the outfit and they might just turn some of those unfavorable opinions around. They’re most likely from the same scene that was featured in the pics we got earlier this week – they do look pretty similar – but there are a few new shots here, as we see Larson facing the camera this time, which shows off the detailing in the suit a lot better.

The context of what exactly’s going on here is unclear, but we imagine this is a sequence from early on in the film, where Carol is showing off her powers and fighting crime for perhaps the first time. It appears that she’s proving her might against some goon, who’s played by Robert Kazinsky (Second Chance, True Blood), but that’s all we can really tell from these pics.

As for the suit itself, hardcore Marvel comics fans have theorized the reason why it might not be in Carol’s traditional red, blue and gold colouring. And that’s because it looks very similar to the outfit worn by Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel. As such, it’s likely the more familiar costume will appear later on in the film, much like how Iron Man and Captain America wore proto-versions of their suits in their first solo outings.

Chalk that up as speculation for now, but we imagine that the titular hero will eventually get a wardrobe upgrade at some point. If not in Captain Marvel, then definitely in Avengers 4, which she’s already confirmed to be appearing in. Until then, however, we’ll have to make do with seeing her in green and we’ll continue to bring you any further set pics that surface.
