Ulysses Klaue is a wanted man.
The notorious arms dealer has been meddling with Wakanda ever since his memorable turn in Age of Ultron, but thanks to Marvel’s Black Panther, Klaue is about to meet his match in the form of the Dora Milaje.
Who are they, exactly? They’re the all-female guardians of Wakanda – fierce warrior women stubborn in their commitment to protecting Africa’s far-flung utopia and its rightful heir, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman). You could even go so far as to say that the Dora Milaje are the beating heart of Black Panther, what with A-listers like Danai Gurira (Okoye) and Florence Kasumba (Ayo) anchoring the superpowered lineup. And to drum up excitement, Marvel is now beginning to show off its leading ladies.
Up first is Danai Gurira’s Okoye, who hunts Ulysses Klaue in today’s newly-unveiled promo:
After laughing off Klaue’s primitive weaponry – much like T’Challa’s super-suit, the car featured in today’s clip appears to be reinforced with Vibranium, the rare material that will, through time, put Wakanda on the world map – Okoye climbs onto the roof to deliver a killer blow to those armed goons.
Andy Serkis’ (The Last Jedi) arms dealer lives to see another day, mind you, but we wouldn’t be too shocked if Ulysses Klaue met his maker when the lights go down in two weeks’ time.
It’s being championed as one of the most important superhero movies in years – decades, even – and we’ll be able to see if Black Panther can live up to those sky-high expectations on February 16th, by which point we’ll be able to pore over the very first trailer for Deadpool 2 as well.
