Looks like Solo: A Star Wars Story will really be the cinematic epilogue to Super Bowl LII, after all.
Nipping at the heels of this morning’s report about a possible premiere during Sunday’s sporting event, Star Wars Stuff (h/t Trailer Track) has uncovered a listing that suggests Good Morning America will be the ones to premiere Solo‘s first full-length trailer on Monday, February 5th, indicating that the Super Bowl stinger will, in all likelihood, be a teaser for a teaser. Such is the Hollywood way.
It’s yet to be confirmed by Lucasfilm, but this stealth announcement from GMA strongly suggests that Solo‘s presence at Super Bowl LII will be limited to a TV spot, while other Hollywood studios gobble up screen time to promote the likes of Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Cloverfield Lane, and Skyscraper.
Besides, GMA has a long history of debuting Star Wars footage, and it looks certain that that tradition will continue on Monday, February 5th:
It’s happening. It’s finally happening.
Story-wise, we know Solo: A Star Wars Story orbits around a series of daring escapades “deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld. There, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”
And it all kicks off on May 25th. There’s a new Star Wars movie on the horizon, folks, which ought to give Rian Johnson some well-deserved respite after answering nine kinds of questions and curious queries about The Last Jedi. At least, we’d like to think so…
