Sherlock season 4 was filled with shocks, but its biggest revelation was the introduction of the detective’s hitherto unknown sister, Eurus Holmes – a psychotic woman whose intellect is greater than either of her big brothers. The finale, “The Final Problem,” saw Eurus live to see another day, even sort of re-connecting with her family, which means it’s possible that a future season, whenever it arrives, will see her return.
When asked if this is something she’d be interested in, actress Sian Brooke made it very clear that she would absolutely love to do more of the hit BBC series. RT also suggested that Eurus should follow in her brother’s footsteps and become a detective, which Brooke seemed to be on board with.
“HELL YES! She was brilliant. I loved playing Benedict’s younger sister and Mark’s younger sister, it was fantastic. I’ve missed my wig! I would definitely be a consulting detective, she has the greatest brain, remember. So yeah, they can come to me!”
RT then asked Brooke if she would like to swap Sherlock for Doctor Who and appear as some kind of villain opposite Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor. Again, Brooke was excited by the notion, and said she would love to dive into the “fantastical” world of the sci-fi show.
“I would love that. I think it’s genius, Jodie’s casting and I would love to be able to play opposite Jodie. But I think, Doctor Who, yeah, to be able to play something so sort of fantastical would be great so who knows, we shall see.”
Right now, a role in Doctor Who is more likely than a return for Eurus. As fans surely know, Sherlock is on indefinite hiatus due to the cast and crew being so busy elsewhere in their careers. Writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are working on a new Dracula TV series and stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, at the same event attended by Sian Brooke, Gatiss confirmed that a new season of the show is at least two years out, so we wouldn’t hold our breath for anything to materialize anytime soon.
