Jamie Lee Curtis and Michael Myers Halloween 2018

Halloween Star Assures Fans That Blumhouse Sequel Will Be A Frightful Delight

The Halloween of 2018 will be a frightful delight, according to Jamie Lee Curtis, who has now wrapped filming on the David Gordon Green sequel.

If Halloween 2017 belonged to Jigsaw – and Happy Death Day, and Amityville: The Awakening, and any other horror film that released in time for All Hallow’s Eve – then this year’s spooky holiday is all about the real Halloween.

On the one hand, John Carpenter’s inimitable slasher will be celebrating its 40th anniversary – yes, it’s going on 40 years since Michael Myers first stalked the unsuspecting residents of Haddonfield – while on the big screen, Blumhouse and David Gordon Green will be rolling out their own Halloween movie, one which is poised to pick up shortly after the 1978 original left off.

In doing so, Green and Co. plan to ignore all other installments in the hit horror franchise in favor of Carpenter’s classic. And it’s this soft retcon that has allowed for the return of Laurie Strode, the Haddonfield scream queen played by the great Jamie Lee Curtis. She’s since wrapped filming on 2018’s Halloween, and recently took to Instagram (h/t Bloody Disgusting) to share a new photo as well as warn fans of a delightful fright coming our way this October.

Check it out in the gallery below – along with a few other recent set pics:

The picture was accompanied by the following caption, too:

And that’s a wrap. Darlene Vega painted this portrait of Michael Myers. A fitting last tableau while shooting @halloweenmovie #halloweenmovie Everybody who made the movie did so because of their passion for John Carpenter and Debra Hill’s original vision. I think you will all be very happy and VERY scared. See you 10/19/18.

Flanked by her close family – namely Karen (Judy Greer) and Allyson Strode (Andi Matichak) – Laurie Strode will confront Michael Myers one last time when Halloween checks into theaters on October 19th. Batten down the hatches, folks, The Shape is coming to town.
