Prince Harry and William in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Prince William’s Not Happy He Got Cut From Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Rian Johnson’s entry into that galaxy far, far away featured a plethora of familiar faces to look out for. Including, but not limited to, Tom Hardy, Gary Barlow, Justin Theroux, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (a regular cohort of Johnson’s, following Brick and Looper), Noah Segan, Rogue One director Gareth Edwards and Warwick Davis who, like Theroux, appeared amid the crowds of Canto Bight, the flashy Star Wars equivalent of Las Vegas.

But wait a second, you’re probably saying right now. Where are Prince William and Harry on that list? Well, as we learned shortly before the film hit theaters, the brothers unfortunately had their cameo cut, meaning they didn’t make it into The Last Jedi, despite many people looking forward to seeing them show up. It’s not only fans who are upset about it, either, as apparently, William’s a bit miffed, too.

According to The Telegraph, the Duke of Cambridge made some comments during last night’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards that indicated he wasn’t too pleased. Granted, these remakes weren’t made publicly, but an in-house camera accidentally transmitted some audio to the media room, with the Prince being overheard to say: “I’ve got a key moment to pick with the editors, actually, because they cut me out of the Star Wars film.”

In all likelihood, William was probably half-kidding here, but it’s understandable if he’s a bit upset. After all, anyone would be thrilled to be part of an iconic franchise like this. Not to mention that he took the time out of his busy schedule to visit the set and film the cameo, as well as hide himself under a Stormtrooper mask so it wouldn’t be so overt.

Who knows, though, maybe J.J. Abrams will find some room for him in Star Wars: Episode IX? Fingers crossed, eh?
