Flashpoint Duo Haven’t Begun Work On DC Solo Flick As Deal Is Still In Flux

Turns out John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein haven't begun work on Flashpoint as they've yet to reach a deal with Warner Bros.

Not so fast, folks.

Spider-Man: Homecoming writing duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have yet to begin work on Warner’s Flashpoint movie as a deal is still in flux.

Word comes by way of The Hollywood Reporter (h/t CBM), where Daley and Goldstein conceded that they haven’t finalized a deal to take the reins on what is undoubtedly one of the most-anticipated DCEU movies in development. And so, while appearing at the world premiere of their latest directorial effort, Game Night, Daley noted the following:

We’re still negotiating. Deals are in the works right now.

In short, the balling isn’t rolling – not yet, at least – and though Daley’s omission will raise concern among the DC community, the director seemed quite upbeat about the chances of reaching an agreement with the Powers That Be over at Warner Bros.

We have to sign the deal. Hopefully, it will work out.

Flashpoint Movie

For a standalone movie about one of the fastest beings on the planet, Flashpoint has spent months – nay, years – languishing on the brink of production. Directors such as Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) and Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) came and went in what quickly became one of Hollywood’s most notorious revolving doors – second only to Channing Tatum’s Gambit movie, which is still searching for a director to replace Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean).

Flashpoint is yet to settle on a firm production start date, let alone a release window, but with reports claiming that the Scarlett Speedster’s solo flick will feature “evil versions” of Wonder Woman, Batman and other members of the Justice League crew, it may well be worth the wait, after all.
