And while pundits are busy speculating what this may mean for the future of both film and television, the geek community knows what the most important outcome is: The X-Men can finally be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Even though it happened a few months back and commotion has somewhat died down, none of us have forgotten about Disney’s acquisition of Fox. And while pundits are busy speculating what this may mean for the future of both film and television, the geek community knows what the most important outcome is: The X-Men can finally be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Now, seeing mutants intermingle with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is something we’ve taken for granted in comics and animation because it happens all the time. Given that, the fact that it’s yet to happen in live action cinema is what fans have found to be maddening. But now, it seems like the future is home to limitless possibilities, with Avengers vs. X-Men topping countless wishlists.

Helping us look into the crystal ball is that of YouTuber Alex Luthor, who’s gifted us with what may very well be one of the best fan-made trailers I’ve ever seen. Seriously, the way he’s cut together the action and dialogue is beyond clever, making for one fluid viewing experience.

In it, we’re given a fair idea of how such a crossover would play out, but when the time comes, I fully expect for most of those mutants to be recast. I mean, not only would a reboot solve Disney’s Wolverine problem, but when it comes to integrating his comrades into the MCU, most people are overlooking the fact that the current cast are starring in movies that take place in the past.

Either way, Avengers vs. X-Men is the endgame the Mouse House should be seeking because the sky is the limit on its box office take. Now, if we could just make that JLA/Avengers crossover a reality as well…
