Our first look at The Grinch in action has been a long time coming. The project was first announced back in 2014 and we’ve known the identity of the esteemed actor who will bringing the iconic Dr. Seuss character to live for a whole two years now, as well. It’s Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch, who will be following in the footsteps of Boris Karloff, in the classic holiday special, and Jim Carrey in the live-action movie from 2000 – which we prefer to forget.

Circling back to that new poster, though, you can see it in the gallery down below along with a previously released one:

Of course, the recent Winter Olympics brought us the first teaser for the film, which comprised a fun skit featuring the Grinch dreaming of himself as a star figure skater but didn’t give us any hint of Cumberbatch in the role. It did, however, suggest what the film’s sense of humour and tone will be like. Another poster, meanwhile, also teased that the movie will explore the Grinch’s childhood and show us just how he became so mean and what led him to become an outcast of Whoville.

The Grinch is a co-production between Universal and Illumination Entertainment, most known for creating the Despicable Me franchiseNo doubt the studios will be hoping to recapture the phenomenal success of those particular films when the latest Dr. Seuss adaptation sneaks into theaters on November 9th.
