Avengers: Infinity War Scene Breakdown Teases Guardians Of The Galaxy Callback

Ever since the team of cosmic misfits turned out to be some of the biggest breakout stars of the MCU back in 2014, fans have been waiting to see the Guardians of the Galaxy encounter the Avengers. At last, that’s about to become a reality in next month’s Avengers: Infinity War

In fact, one team-up that’s been teased a lot is Thor, Rocket and Groot forming an unlikely trio. But it turns out the raccoon (sorry, trash-panda) is set to have at least one other fun moment with a different hero. And that’s because EW have revealed that, at some point in the film, Rocket Raccoon (as portrayed by Sean Gunn and voiced by Bradley Cooper) will share a hilarious scene with Sebastian Stan’s White Wolf, formally known as Winter Soldier.

Guardians of the Galaxy fans will surely enjoy the sequence, as it references a running joke from the team’s debut movie. Here’s how EW describes it:

Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, the former Winter Soldier now known to his Wakandan friends as “White Wolf,” is laying waste to Outriders while Rocket — in the form of Sean Gunn, wielding a puppet stand-in — distracts him with some offers he can easily refuse.

“How much for the gun?” the furry dealmaker asks, admiring the firepower clutched by Bucky’s mechanical limb.

“It’s not for sale.”

“Okay, how much for the arm? The arm?” Rocket persists. (He has a weird thing about prosthetics.)

Back in GotG, Rocket ordered Peter Quill to fetch an inmate’s artificial leg as part of his complex scheme to break the gang out of The Kyln prison facility. It turned out that this was just a weird practical joke and Rocket had no need for it. He later tried to repeat the gag when working with the Ravagers to take down Ronan, but Peter stopped him before he could do it again.

EW also confirmed that this scene will take place during the Battle in Wakanda. Which is a pretty major piece of info as it reveals that the Guardians will also be present in the African nation when Thanos’ forces attack. The trailers so far have promised that Cap, Black Panther, Hulk, Black Widow and others would be part of the fight, but it’s clear that they’re holding back on exactly how many heroes will be present.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
