Is Deadpool 2 Going To Kill Off [SPOILERS]?

In contrast to its pretty much universally-beloved predecessor, rumour has it that Deadpool 2 has received a surprisingly negative reception from test audiences. Apparently, these early reactions have got Fox very worried, and could be a major reason for the reshoots that have been going on for the past few weeks.

In contrast to its pretty much universally-beloved predecessor, rumour has it that Deadpool 2 has received a surprisingly negative reception from test audiences. Apparently, these early reactions have got Fox very worried, and could be a major reason for the reshoots that have been going on for the past few weeks.

As we reported earlier, former IGN editor Jeremy Conrad has now added to the speculation by outlining some of the offenses that Deadpool 2 commits which have caused the alleged backlash. While you can read about that in our previous article, one scene that Conrad detailed suggests that a pretty important character is going to die. And not at the end of the film. Or even in the middle. No, they’re going to bite the bullet within the first 10 minutes.

Of course, it goes without saying that we’re about to tread into spoiler territory here, so if you want to walk into the theater with a fresh slate, turn back now. You’ve been warned…

Still here? Good, because what Conrad says is pretty shocking. According to him, a female character is killed right at the start, and it’s a character that “many people considered the heart of the first movie, and one of its best parts.” Even worse is that she only gets a single scene before she meets her end.

Due to legal reasons – we assume – Conrad refrains from actually giving a name, but we’re all thinking the same thing here, right? Yup, it looks like Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa won’t be around for much longer. Not only is that disappointing as she’s a great character in her own right, but in the comics, Vanessa becomes Copycat, a mutant shape-shifter who works as a mercenary. Now, it looks like we’ll never get to see that part of her story on the big screen.

Of course, given that this is all coming from test screenings, and has in no way been confirmed, we’d advise taking it with a grain of salt. After all, with the film currently undergoing reshoots, who knows what may change between now and release? For all we know, Fox can put Vanessa back into the movie and let her live. It’s unlikely at this stage, sure, but until we actually get the chance to see Deadpool 2 for ourselves, we’ll remain hopeful that it’ll be able to live up to its predecessor.
