High-Res Stills For Avengers: Infinity War Tee Up The Fight Of The Century

If you were among the fortunate few who received their copy of Empire Magazine ahead of schedule, you’ll know that the outlet’s latest issue is dedicated to Avengers: Infinity War, which looks set to become the crowning achievement for Marvel Studios – so far, at least.

With 10 years of superhero legacy at its disposal and more characters than you could shake an Infinity Gauntlet at, it’s fair to say that, on paper, Infinity War has all the makings of a special, once-in-a-generation kind of movie. Between them, directors Joe and Anthony Russo – not to mention their screenwriters and frequent collaborators Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus – have executed an unprecedented juggling act with some of the biggest names in comic book history. And don’t get us started on Avengers 4.

Of course, the jury’s still out on whether the Russo Brothers are able to stick the landing, but with budding viewers gobbling up advance ticket sales like they’re going out of fashion, it would take something truly extraordinary for Avengers: Infinity War to fall flat in five weeks’ time.

Speaking of which, with the theatrical release fast approaching, Empire (via CBM) has now rolled out a collection of HD stills for a Marvel movie that’s since been described as Thanos’ origin story. Wait, what?

Indeed, when creating a backstory for Josh Brolin’s antagonist, Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus made a conscious effort to write a villain who is at once empathetic and horrifying, and we imagine those long-rumored flashback scenes from Infinity War‘s second trailer will help show a softer side to the purple-skinned giant. And we can hardly wait.

Six Infinity Stones. 22 costumed crusaders. One Mad Titan. It can only be Avengers: Infinity War, which is expected to bring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to their knees on April 27th.
