Pennywise

This Animatronic Pennywise Is The Stuff Of Nightmares

While Pennywise licks his wounds and enjoys all the “we have (insert goofy thing) down here” memes that pop up on his Facebook feed, the rest of us are forced to speculate at to what will be seen in IT: Chapter Two, the follow-up to the 2017 box office juggernaut. On the plus side, filming is set to commence this summer, but that doesn’t make the wait any easier.

Oddly enough, an expertly crafted animatronic on display at this year’s TransWorld’s Halloween & Attractions Show in St. Louis gives us a fine idea of how the chief antagonist in the Stephen King adaptation may appear at some point in the next film. Seen in the video embedded below, Unit 70 Studios fashioned an amalgamation of what was seen on the silver screen and described on the printed page.

We say that because, as you may know, Pennywise takes on the form of a pregnant spider in the final confrontation with the Losers Club, which has forced some to believe that the creature is, in fact, female. Still, there’s much room for visual reinterpretation in the next flick, as it stands to reason that the filmmakers won’t want to mirror the TV miniseries, and will want to surprise lovers of the novel as well.

Still, it should be noted that Pennywise hails from a plane of existence beyond our own, with its true form likely being beyond comprehension – not to mention the very real possibility that it transcends the human idea of gender. Either way, we can’t wait to see what’s in store.

IT: Chapter Two arrives in theaters on September 6th, 2019. That’s still a long ways away, but in the meantime, be sure to check out the nightmare fuel above and let us know what you think.
