Bucky Barnes and Captain America

Sebastian Stan Says Cap And Bucky’s Special Relationship Will Never Go Away

Speaking to Hey U Guys at a recent fan event, Sebastian Stan said that Cap and Bucky's special relationship will never go away.

When Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes reunite in Avengers: Infinity War, it should be a big moment. After all, the former risked everything to protect his best friend in the hopes that he could be cured of his HYDRA brainwashing. Thanks to his stay in Wakanda, that faith has paid off, as the former Winter Soldier is now himself again. And though the exact details on the big reunion are being kept under lock and key, we did catch a glimpse of it in yesterday’s new TV spot.

Encountering him in the aforementioned fictional African nation, Steve sees his old friend, pats him on the shoulder and immediately asks, “How ya been Buck?” “Not bad for the end of the world,” replies Sebastian Stan’s fan favorite. It’s a brief moment, and all we get of the two of them together, but it’s clear that their friendship and camaraderie is still in tact. And that’s because a special relationship like the one they share never fades.

Or at least, that’s according to Stan. While speaking with Hey U Guys during a recent fan event, the outlet asked him if Cap and Bucky’s relationship would still be what drives the latter, and here’s what he said:

“Well, you know, it’s never gonna go away. That’s history. Your past doesn’t ever leave you. It’s more what you learn to do with it.”

This echoes previous comments made by Stan, in which he revealed that the duo are actually in a good spot and remain close, even despite everything that’s happened.

“I think the relationship is in a good spot. It’s interesting, actually. Because in life, friendships develop and change. And sometimes you can know someone for 15-20 years but people change and sometimes they go on different paths. And those two have certainly known each other for a long time, and they have a lot in common and a bond. But they’ve each had a lot of separate life experiences.

So while they do remain close, it’s interesting to think about that they’ve actually become different people than how they started out [and] how that affects their relationship is always a good question.”

He’s been bent, bruised, broken and battered to within an inch of his life, but come April, Bucky Barnes will receive a new lease of life – quite literally – which is just as well considering Thanos and his Black Order are now looming on the horizon and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will need all the help they can get.

Speaking of which, as was revealed in a recent media dump, Sebastian Stan’s Avenger will be charging into battle alongside T’Challa, and that golden arm will likely come in handy when it comes to battling the many Outriders bearing down on Wakanda. Expect Avengers: Infinity War to zoom into theaters on April 27th.
