Luke Cage Producer Says Heroes For Hire Show Could Happen

While it's not a sure thing - far from it, in fact - Luke Cage producer Cheo Hodari Coker says that a Heroes for Hire show could definitely happen.

Marvel’s Heroes for Hire aren’t known for seeing eye to eye – not first, at least.

That’s a tension we saw take hold in The Defenders, when Luke Cage and Iron Fist first crossed paths, much to the delight of comic book fans. But with The Hand reeling and Midland Circle reduced to rubble, those street-level heroes are now preparing to circle back to their own individual series.

Then again, this being a Marvel joint, there’s always room for a crossover and sure enough, Mike Colter has already gone on record about a potential Heroes for Hire arc in Luke Cage season 2. But what about a full blown show for the dynamic duo? Could that one day become a reality? Well, according to producer Cheo Hodari Coker, yes, it definitely can.

Speaking in a recent interview, here’s what he shared:

It’s something that’s in the air. Internally at Marvel Television, everybody knows there’s a part of that combination that is inevitable, particularly when you watch them together in the way that we did it. If feels right. It feels good. It feels like, ‘I want to see more of this combination.’ Heroes for Hire is really not off the table.

For those unfamiliar with the Heroes for Hire, in the comic books, Danny and Luke pair up to form a crime-fighting business under that name. While it’s nice to know that we’ll be getting an arc revolving around the duo in the upcoming sophomore season of Cage, their own show is really what fans want to see. Whether it’ll happen or not, we can’t say, but Coker sounds optimistic about the prospect, so perhaps we’ll get our wish?

Time will tell, but what we can confirm for now is that season 2 of Luke Cage has been slated for a Netflix premiere on June 22nd, which tells us that the third installment of Daredevil ought to be with us before the year’s end. And after that? Another round of The Punisher and Iron Fist – presumably at the expense of The Defenders.
