Tyler Posey Is Game For A Batman Beyond Movie

One thing I’ve noticed in the time I’ve been a writer is how the mere mention of Batman Beyond sends readers into a frenzy. Actually, that doesn’t surprise me much, because in the time since the beloved animated series that chronicled the adventures of a future Dark Knight left airwaves, the only things that continued its legacy outside of the comic book medium were that of an epilogue episode of Justice League Unlimited and a DC Nation short years later.

Still, hope remains that the folks over at Warner Bros. Animation will go ahead with a direct-to-video movie at some point, or, Zod willing, something in the live action realm materializes. Of course, the latter seems far less likely, but many of you will agree with me in saying that a flesh-and-blood Terry McGinnis is long overdue.

Fortunately, at least one person over in Hollywood is of the same school of thought, as actor Tyler Posey had this to say to Screen Rant when asked what superhero he’d like to play when promoting his upcoming film Truth or Dare:

“I always got… Remember Batman Beyond? I loved Batman Beyond! That’d be fun, man, I don’t want, I don’t want to get too old before I got to pitch it.”

To be completely honest, Posey does have the right look for a Terry McGinnis, but he’s correct about one thing: Time is most certainly of the essence. With this iteration of the Masked Manhunter being a teenager, the day will eventually come when the young actor will simply be too old for the role.

Believe it or not, Batman Beyond nearly came to theaters in the years separating Batman & Robin from Batman Begins, with Boaz Yakin hired to direct. Unfortunately, the project fell apart and we got Christopher Nolan’s trilogy as one hell of a windfall, but it’s fun to ponder how the Gotham of tomorrow would’ve looked on the silver screen. Let’s just hope that someone hears Posey out and keeps the dream alive.
