Gorgeous New Art Teases The Road To Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War is, among many other things, going to close the door on several aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's almost a given that, at least by the time Avengers 4 has wrapped up, a number of big names will lie dead or inactive. With that in mind, what better way to celebrate the ten-year history of the universe with this impressive looking book?

The full title is The Road To Avengers: Infinity War – The Art of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and if the cover (seen in the gallery below, along with some recent posters) is any indication, it’s going to be one hell of a read. Eagle-eyed fans will, of course, note that many of these characters aren’t in their Infinity War costumes. Captain America is in his original suit from First Avenger, while Black Widow is sporting her Avengers hairdo, Thor is in his Ragnarok helmet and (I think) that’s the original Iron Man suit from way back in 2008 (let me know in the comments if I’ve got any of this wrong).

Also, in a fan-pleasing detail, squirreled away in the corner is Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye – who has been famously absent from the Infinity War group posters. All this adds up to a book that looks like the perfect item for any true MCU connoisseur.

Right now, it’s available to pre-order on Amazon (you can do so here), and will be released on May 1st –  just after Infinity War explodes into cinemas. For more information, here’s the official description:

The Avengers have come a long way since they first assembled to fight off an alien invasion. The past five years have brought more and more challenges, and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have always risen to face them. But have they finally met their match in the intergalactic despot Thanos, who seeks to inflict his twisted will on all of reality? Just in time for the highly anticipated event, this keepsake volume celebrates the characters and concepts that will converge in May 2018, collecting art, interviews, and photography from films leading up to Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.

I’ve definitely got a weakness for these glossy art books, which usually give a load of interesting background details not contained in the films as well as some neat unused concept art that shows us the movie we could have seen. Doubtless there’s going to be some stuff in here that fans will be familiar with, but let’s hope they’ve dug out some fresh nuggets for us to pore over as we digest Avengers: Infinity War, which we’ll all have seen by the time this releases.
