It’s been two years now since the staggering success of Tim Miller’s Deadpool – $363 million on home turf for a global total in excess of $780 million – and the Merc with a Mouth is on his way back to theaters, thank the heavens, with Deadpool 2, a high-octane sequel that’s expected to up the ante quite considerably.

For proof of that, you only need to look at the addition of Domino (Zazie Beetz) and Cable (Infinity War‘s Josh Brolin), two fan-favorite mutants who are about to give the Merc a run for his money when it comes to supernatural abilities. The latter is said to be pretty crucial to the overall story, too, which shouldn’t be all that surprising to those familiar with the Nathan Summers of Marvel’s X-Men comics.

But today the focus is not on Cable. Instead, it’s on three cheeky new promos which aired tonight alongside The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead (not to mention after-show Talking Dead), seemingly as part of an unexpected cross-promotion deal between AMC and Fox. Up above you’ll find the one that aired with TWD, while below you can lay eyes on the TV spots that followed with Fear and Talking, and though none of them are that long, they’re sure to put a smile on your face.

True, they contain mostly the same footage that we’ve already seen, but there’s just something so entertaining about anything starring that Merc with a Mouth that we’re more than happy to sink our teeth into these as the promotional campaign continues to ramp up. It’s one that’s been pretty busy lately, too, bringing with it posters, photos and that awesome full-length trailer from back in March.

Not that we’re complaining, mind you. Now that X-Men: Dark Phoenix has slipped into 2019 – rumor has it that Fox and Simon Kinberg are bracing for “extensive reshoots” that will involve overhauling the film’s third act – it’s totally understandable that the studio devote their full attention to the upcoming sequel, which is the closest thing to a sure-fire hit that we’re likely to see in the blockbuster space…Avengers: Infinity War notwithstanding.

And it all kicks off on May 18th. The question, really, is whether Deadpool 2 can emulate the box office success of its predecessor, which blew past all expectations on its journey to $783 million worldwide. Time will tell, but we remain hopeful.
