As we all know by now, Avengers: Infinity War will feature every superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming together to fight Thanos. Well, nearly every hero. As has been very obvious from the marketing, the film won’t find much of a place for Hawkeye or Ant-Man.
Despite appearances, the Russo brothers have maintained that Jeremy Renner’s archer is in the event movie and there is a reason for his absence in the trailers. We still haven’t heard anything about what Paul Rudd’s role in the film will be, though. And until now, we didn’t even know for sure if he was going to be in it at all.
Thanks to a BBFC listing, though, we can tell you that the actor will indeed show up in some form, as Rudd’s name is included in the cast list. BBFC have also reiterated that the final runtime is 149 minutes and 9 seconds, which is just a bit shorter than the initially reported length of 156 minutes. Furthermore, the classification reveals that the film has earned a 12A certificate in the UK, much the same as previous MCU entries.
Circling back to Ant-Man, though, and this isn’t the first time we’ve got a hint that he’ll turn up in the pic. Just the other day, Marvel Japan’s Twitter account shared a photo of a rack of costumes from the movie which happened to feature Scott Lang’s shrinking super-suit alongside the likes of Captain America, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and others. There was some confusion at the time over whether the costume was there simply because Ant-Man is involved in Avengers 4, but now it seems like he’s in Infinity War, after all.
Assuming there isn’t a role for him in the film itself though, we can speculate that Rudd’s part will instead come in the shape of a post-credits scene. After all, Ant-Man and the Wasp is the next MCU movie after Infinity War, and the Russos did recently reveal that their pic will sport the usual extra sequences once those credits have rolled.
Either way, we’ll find out how involved Scott Lang is quite soon, as Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
