Marvel All Female Movie

Pom Klementieff Says Marvel’s Already Developing A Female Team-Up Movie

Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe does have its share of kick-ass female characters, the studio sure did take its sweet time before allowing them to become headliners. Of course, that'll change next year once Captain Marvel arrives in theaters, but it seems as though even more exciting stuff is on the horizon.

As you may have heard, Tessa Thompson, whose character of Valkyrie we first met in Thor: Ragnarok, pitched an idea last year regarding an all-female team-up movie. Naturally, the story gained a lot of traction, as it’d sure be something different to see in a post-Avengers: Infinity War world. And, to be honest, I’d be down for watching such a picture.

Still, an idea – even given by a current star in the MCU – is no guarantee for a green light, but some recent words that Pom Klementieff had to offer to Purebreak while promoting Infinity War lend some hope:

“We spoke with Kevin Feige, and he thought it was a good idea. I think they are developing it right now.”

Marvel All Female Movie

Notice that the Mantis actress used the word “think,” but she’s privy to more behind the scenes talks than the rest of us. If indeed the wheels are turning, this opens the door for a big screen adaptation for a group like, say, A-Force, which was essentially an all-female Avengers-style group that gained quite some popularity in the comic book world in recent years. And while a fair amount of True Believers likely got attached to the lineup they saw on the printed page, the studio isn’t bound by law to reflect that. Instead, we could see them adapting the concept as to include characters already known to moviegoers.

Additionally, she did say “[Marvel] are also developing a Black Widow movie by the way,” and that she hopes “to participate” in the project. Right now, it’s assumed one such film could arrive in 2020, so fingers remain crossed.

You can next catch Ms. Klementieff as Mantis in Avengers: Infinity War when that arrives in theaters on April 27.
