Proving that screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (The Winter Soldier, Civil War) haven’t pulled any punches, the above promo signals the moment when the Mad Titan wages war against Wakanda, which is said to host the sequel’s final act. And it’s shaping up to be a big one.

How do we know? Well, Infinity War‘s review embargo broke late last night, opening the floodgates to a tidal wave of positivity and glowing praise. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, though, with some critics – our own Matt Donato included – calling out the sequel’s cliffhanger as a contrived launchpad for Avengers 4, the untitled follow-up that’s due to hit theaters in May of 2019.

It’s been the subject of heated debate, too – and we’re not just referring to the top-secret title. Ever since those retro set photos emerged back in January, it’s been reported that Joe and Anthony Russo’s conclusive sequel will incorporate elements of time travel into its gargantuan story.

Of course, it’s a stretch, as there’s a very good chance that the Russo Brothers simply called upon Tony Stark’s B.A.R.F. (Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing) technology, which was originally featured in Captain America: Civil War. So many questions, so few answers…

Said to be targeting a global opening in the region of $498 million (!), Avengers: Infinity War opens big on April 27th. And yes, it’s officially been ‘Certified Fresh’ by the folks over at Rotten Tomatoes, though whether the film’s Audience Score can be protected from online trolls is another question entirely…
