Longtime fans of M. Night Shyamalan’s movies had their minds blown at the end of 2017’s Split when Bruce Willis turned up for a cameo as David Dunn, the super-powered hero he first played back in 2000’s Unbreakable. In Marvel-esque style, this set up a closer to the loose trilogy in the form of Glass, which will see Willis face off against both James McAvoy’s The Beast and Samuel L. Jackson’s titular Mr. Glass.
Those lucky enough to attend CinemaCon got the opportunity to view the first trailer for the film today. Unfortunately for the rest of us, this footage hasn’t made its way online yet, but the first promo image for the movie has. The banner, seen below, features Kevin Wendell Crumb alongside Elijah Price AKA Mr. Glass and David Dunn. The latter two are in their familiar looks from Unbreakable – a snappy purple suit and a rain poncho, respectively.

Also in the cast is Sarah Paulson as Dr. Ellie Staple, a psychiatrist whose specializes in studying those who believe they’re superheroes. This leads her to meet with – and institutionalize! – Crumb, Glass and Dunn. Info from CinemaCon (via ComicBookMovie.com) has also confirmed what fans already expected: that the two villains will team up at some point and take on Willis’ hero.
“What if these real life superheroes and supervillains are somehow locked up together?” Paulson said at the event, summing up the premise of the movie. “What could go wrong?”
“In Split, I created the origin story for an anarchist that could be good or could be bad,” Shyamalan explained. “The worlds of Unbreakable and Split finally collide in Glass.” The director also called Glass, “the first truly grounded comic book movie.”
Though it’s not much, this first look and new info has certainly got us a lot more curious about the film and we’re excited to see Glass break onto theater screens early next year, on January 18th, 2019.
