Chris Evans Reveals How He Got To Read The Full Avengers: Infinity War Script

As fans know all too well by now, Avengers: Infinity War has been kept so tightly under wraps by Marvel Studios that very few of the cast actually got to read the full script. And even those that did weren't entirely sure if they'd got hold of the real thing or not, as fake scenes were written in a further attempt to prevent spoilers from leaking out. Despite all this, it seems that one of the movie's leading men did actually manage to get his hands on it.

As fans know all too well by now, Avengers: Infinity War has been kept so tightly under wraps by Marvel Studios that very few of the cast actually got to read the full script. And even those that did weren’t entirely sure if they’d got hold of the real thing or not, as fake scenes were written in a further attempt to prevent spoilers from leaking out. Despite all this, it seems that one of the movie’s leading men did actually manage to get his hands on it.

We’re talking about Chris Evans, who revealed on Good Morning America that he pushed hard to be provided with the full script for Infinity War. He explained that it took some doing, but the studio eventually gave in. Apparently, though, Evans broke protocol even more by bringing the screenplay home. Maybe you shouldn’t have said that on national TV, Chris…

“They let me read it, but you gotta get fussy. The level of secrecy has only increased over the years, they’re so worried about leaks. So, you have kind of put your foot down and say, ‘Give me the f-, Give me the script.’ …I took one home. You’re not supposed to, but I took one home. This is actually going to get me in trouble.’”

That’s a pretty impressive feat from Evans. Even the original star of the MCU, Robert Downey Jr., didn’t get to see the entire thing. Benedict Cumberbatch claims he got his hands on it as well, though co-director Joe Russo recently teased that the Doctor Strange actor actually received one of the fake scripts that we mentioned above. From what we understand, most cast members were not given the whole thing. Especially not Tom Holland, whose blabber-mouth is partly responsible for the whole fake script thing in the first place.

As for Evans, there might be a reason that Marvel acquiesced to his request, and that’s because Infinity War and Avengers 4 could be the final outings for Steve Rogers in the MCU. After all, in the same interview, Evans addressed rumors that Captain America is set to meet his demise soon, reminding us that his contract is up after these two movies.

Whatever the case may be, all of Avengers: Infinity War‘s secrets will finally be spilled when it hits theaters on April 27th.
