Tom Hiddleston Would Love To Play Galactus Or Captain Britain In The MCU

Tom Hiddleston might have already won the hearts of Marvel fans the world over with his beloved portrayal of mischievous anti-villain Loki, but he wouldn't mind trying his hand at a different classic comic book antagonist in the MCU.

Tom Hiddleston might have already won the hearts of Marvel fans the world over with his beloved portrayal of mischievous anti-villain Loki, but he wouldn’t mind trying his hand at a different classic comic book antagonist in the MCU.

Collider asked the long-running star of the franchise what other Marvel characters he might like to play. At first, Hiddleston suggested having a go at portraying a superhero, putting his name forward for the UK’s very own answer to Steve Rogers: Captain Britain.

“Gosh, I don’t know. Is there a Captain Britain? Is he an interesting character? Probably there is.”

He’s right, there is indeed a Captain Britain in Marvel’s library. Brian Braddock might not be as famous as his counterpart from across the pond, but he has a certain cult following. Comic book supremo Alan Moore even wrote a run of comics starring the character back in the 1980s and he’d definitely be a fun addition to the MCU.

On second thought, though, Hiddleston decided that he’d stay on the dark side and ultimately picked the other Marvel supervillain that he loved reading about as a kid: The Silver Surfer’s world-eating boss, Galactus. “The one I used to love when I was a child was Galactus,” the star revealed.

As he’s typically associated with the Fantastic Four, the rights to Galactus currently rest over at Fox. Still, he’s expected to return home to Marvel Studios very soon when the Disney-Fox merger goes through. Once that happens, we have a strong suspicion that he’ll appear in the MCU, as he’s definitely a fan favorite character. Not to mention the fact that someone needs to do him right after 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer depicted him as a pathetic space cloud.

But would audiences be able to accept Hiddleston as two separate MCU bad guys? The actor has a way around that, as he suggested that he could play Galactus via motion capture, thereby hiding his face. He also referenced the fact that Chris Evans got to play two Marvel characters in the form of Captain America and Human Torch.

“Could be motion capture. Does one get to double up? Chris Evans got to double up, I suppose.”

With rumours swirling that Loki’s time in the MCU could come to an end in Avengers: Infinity War, Tom Hiddleston might be free to take on a second Marvel role, after all. But would you like to see him as Galactus or Captain Britain? Let us know in the comments section down below.
