Brad Dourif Says There’s A Lot Of Interest In The Child’s Play TV Show

The homicidal killer doll Chucky has proven to be cinematically immortal, surviving being set on fire, shot through the heart, dunked in molten plastic, sliced up by a giant fan, dismembered with an axe and decapitated. But, as the old saying goes, you just can't keep a good doll down and as we told you a while back, the iconic horror villain is looking to terrorize audiences in a Child's Play television series.

Word is that the finished product will be an 8 part series, with each episode one-hour long. Everything else, including whether Tiffany is set to return or which network it’ll air on is under wraps for now, and while we still don’t have firm confirmation that this project will 100% get off the ground, it seems that, at the very least, there’s a lot of interest in it.

That’s according to franchise star Brad Dourif, who recently told Den of Geek the following when they asked him about the TV show in an interview:

“I haven’t spoke to Don [Mancini],” said the actor. “My daughter (Fiona Dourif, who was also in Cult of Chucky) is very close to him, they speak almost every day. She assures me that the TV series, at least, is something that there’s a lot of interest in. I don’t know if that’s gonna happen or not, but it certainly could.”

So, as we said above, it’s not a sure thing just yet, but it does seem likely to happen, and that’s certainly good news. After all, everything we’ve heard about the in-development show so far sounds very promising, with Mancini teasing the following back in February:

“We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.”

Plot-wise, we understand that the origins of the Child’s Play TV series have already been “deliberately set up” in the finale of last year’s Cult of Chucky (which (spoilers) concluded with Chucky’s severed head being tortured). Beyond that, details are scarce, but as things continue to come together, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
