New Images Revealed From Fincher’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

David Fincher is a force to be reckoned with, a man who takes no bullshit and makes movies how he wants to make them. Although a very successful commercial hit, the Stieg Larsson Millennium trilogy is tailor made Fincher's darker, less commercial sensibilities. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, the first in the trilogy, is the most hardcore, a detective story concerned with the violent misogyny of society involving the rape and murder of women.

This is the film I am most looking forward to this year. As I have said numerous times before, this is something more than your typical remake. The original film (which I loved) is a different beast to the novel and Fincher with screenwriter Steven Zaillian have gone back to the source and readapted it for the screen.

Today we get new images from the film that just show us more of the cast. We see Daniel Craig as disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist, with Christopher Plummer as Henrik Vanger, the man who hires Blomkvist to find who killed his daughter Harriet. Another photo shows new kid on the block Rooney Mara confronting her state ordered guardian Nils Bjurman, with whom she has a tempestuous relationship. There’s also a solo shot of Craig included

The film will be released stateside on December 21st and you can check out the new photos below.
