T.J. Miller

Weasel Won’t Be Returning For The X-Force Movie, According To Ryan Reynolds

Per The New York Times, we now have confirmation that T.J. Miller's Weasel won't be returning for the planned X-Force movie.

Warpath, Colossus, Boom Boom, Shatterstar, Feral, Archangel – these are just some of the characters who may or may not feature in Fox and Drew Goddard’s planned X-Force movie.

Word is the Powers That Be are still in the process of whittling down their preliminary cast list, and while Zazie Beetz’s Domino was recently confirmed for the team-up flick, we can now scratch Weasel’s name from the docket. Or so says Ryan Reynolds.

While discussing the ins and outs of Deadpool 2 with The New York Times (h/t ComicBook.com), Reynolds was quizzed about the disturbing allegations being leveled against T.J. Miller (Weasel). The Canadian actor didn’t respond – but he did reveal that Miller’s supporting character won’t be returning for X-Force in the not-so-distant future.

It’s unclear if this has something to do with those allegations, or the simple fact that most minor characters tend to be omitted from a superhero crossover – just look at Avengers: Infinity War. Still, this status report presents some food for thought.

The takeaway? David Leitch’s imminent sequel could mark T.J. Miller’s second and final appearance as the quip-happy Weasel, given Ryan Reynolds played down talk of a third Deadpool movie earlier this week.

“I don’t know that there would be a Deadpool 3,” he said. “I really don’t. I feel like the character, in order for him to function properly within his own universe, you need to take everything away from him. I don’t think that you can keep doing that. I do see him as being a part of X-Force, obviously.

I would love to see him in a team-up sort of thing, like a mano a mano or a great female character from the X-Men universe. I just think if you’re going to do another Deadpool solo film, you’ve got to really, like, get that budget down to nothing and just swing for the fences, and break all kinds of weird barriers, and do stuff that no one else can do.”

Drew Goddard’s nascent X-Force movie is beginning to take precedence over at 20th Century Fox, so we’re intrigued to watch as the team-up flick continues to fall into place.
