Deadpool 2 Promo

New Deadpool 2 TV Spot Sees Wade Wilson Lampoon Superhero Movies Of Every Kind

The Merc With a Mouth flips the bird at just about every superhero movie trope in this newly-unveiled promo for Deadpool 2.

When it comes to the Merc With a Mouth (AKA Marvel’s meta king), there’s no inside joke too small, no superhero movie too big, to escape Wade Wilson’s grasp.

Case in point: this newly-unveiled promo for Deadpool 2, which has the in-character Ryan Reynolds narrating some footage from the comic book sequel. And it’s arrived just in time, too, given the Merc is expected to stage his second coming on Friday, May 18th – or May 15th, if you happen to be located in the United Kingdom – and it seems Deadpool’s jokes about Marvel and DC won’t be limited to the trailers.

From Infinity Stones to the shoddy CGI work of Justice League and, in particular, Steppenwolf, up above you’ll see ‘Pool throw down the Infinity gauntlet, as he lampoons every superhero movie convention and hackneyed cliche under the sun. There may be a strange case of the pot calling the kettle black going on here, though, as some critics have called out Deadpool 2 for its wonky pacing and overstuffed plot.

Be that as it may, the film is still faring pretty well over on Rotten Tomatoes (85 percent at the time of writing), with the official review round-up revealing that David Leitch’s sequel still delivers a “gory, gleeful lampoon” of the genre it calls home.

Though it threatens to buckle under the weight of its meta gags, Deadpool 2 is a gory, gleeful lampoon of the superhero genre buoyed by Ryan Reynolds’ undeniable charm.

Sandwiched in between two little-known blockbusters (read: Infinity War and Solo), Deadpool 2 is expected to stake a claim for the box office throne on May 18th. And in related news, a recent German interview with Josh Brolin proves Wade Wilson isn’t the only one capable of roasting the DCEU.
