Aquaman’s New Armor Revealed Via Promo Art

Having effectively shared, and occasionally stolen, the spotlight from his on-screen superiors in Justice League, Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry will finally lead his own movie when Aquaman hits theaters later this year.

Unfortunately, though, we’ve yet to see a trailer for the James Wan-directed superhero flick. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who will be portraying villain Black Manta in the film, recently commented on the absence of it. He wouldn’t give us much, however, as when asked why he can’t, at the very least, tell us when the preview will drop, the actor playfully responded, “it would RUIN EVERYTHING…So… No. I won’t tell you.”

So, while we wait for the elusive first footage of Aquaman to surface, Warner Bros. has now revealed a new look at Jason Momoa as the titular superhero. The promo art on display at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas depicts Arthur Curry alongside Zachery Levi’s Shazam, and he’s sporting some new armor. Funnily enough, the Billy Batson half of the image was shared by Levi the other day, in which you can clearly make out part of Aquaman’s arm in the bottom righthand corner.

Plot details regarding the upcoming standalone outing are understandably scarce at the moment, but it’s believed Aquaman will explore the character’s rich history and his reluctance to accept the role of King. Momoa also recently spoke to how his solo feature will be able to set itself apart from the failure that was Justice League, saying:

Justice League was like college. I’m not really sure what Aquaman was, it’s just all on my shoulders. I had a great time. I think in Justice League, you had five other characters around you suffering equally the same, so it was kind of fun to endure that. And then you know got me ready to do my solo movie which was challenging and tough and hard and super satisfying.
