Ryan Reynolds On Which Deadpool 2 Character Should Get A Spinoff

Things don't turn out very well for the X-Force on their first mission in Deadpool 2. In a completely unexpected twist, these characters that were expected to carry into their own movie end up being killed off as soon as they jumped off the plane, dying in a variety of gruesome - and rather hilarious - ways. R.I.P. Bedlam, Shatterstar, Zeitgeist and Vanisher... We hardly knew ya.

At the end of the sequel, though, DP uses Cable’s time-travel device to go back to the past and save the people that died on his watch during the movie. After rescuing his fiancee Vanessa, he goes on to save all of the X-Forcers – no, wait, that’s not right. He actually only saves Peter, the chipper, regular guy on the team, and leaves the others to meet their grisly fates.

But can fans expect to see more of the lovable character beyond Deadpool 2? That’s a good question, and one we don’t have a definitive answer to just yet. That being said, writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have already teased that he may show up again on the big screen and now, Ryan Reynolds has weighed in on the situation, saying he’d love for Peter to get his own film.

Chatting to BBC Radio 1, here’s what he said:

“I would love to see a Peter spin-off movie, ASAP. I love Peter. That’s probably one of my favorite characters from the new film. We call it, ‘Absolutely Peter.’ ‘Deadpool 3: Absolutely Peter.’

We definitely agree with the actor here. Though we can’t imagine the character getting a spinoff, it’s not too outside the realm of possibility to imagine Fox having further plans for Peter.

After all, Rob Delaney was a ton of fun in the role and fans have certainly taken to him, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he came back as comic relief in X-Force. Especially as T.J. Miller has been confirmed to not be returning as Weasel. That, combined with Reynolds’ comments here have us feeling pretty confident that Deadpool 2 isn’t the last time Peter will show up on the big screen.
