Avengers: Infinity War Directors Address Drax’s Disappearance

During an interview with HuffPo, Anthony and Joe Russo addressed whether or not Drax did indeed disappear at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo opened up about several of the fourth all-time highest-grossing movie’s unanswered questions earlier this week.

The brothers held a Q&A session with Huffington Post where the liberal American news outlet’s extensive query list touched on the likes of Spider-Man’s (Tom Holland) heartbreaking monologue and Star Lord’s (Chris Pratt) emotional, yet understandable mistake.

During the interview, they also addressed whether or not Drax (Dave Bautista) did indeed disappear during that rather hilarious moment in the film. For those in need of a refresher; in an otherwise serious scene between Star-Lord and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) in Infinity War, Drax reveals that he’s been watching the entire time.

How did the superhuman go undetected by the two, you ask? Well, according to the Destroyer, the duo hadn’t picked up on his presence because, as long as he remains perfectly still, he becomes invisible to the naked eye.

But does he really have the ability to disappear? Or was he just standing very still? “That’s a spoiler,” joked Joe Russo. Anthony, however, offered a more concrete response, saying “that’s to be decided.” Overall, though, the two were predictably mum on the subject, concluding “all we know is what we can gather from the film. Anything more than that can potentially be addressed down the line.”

Regardless of Anthony and Joe Russo’s vagueness, it does sound like we may get the chance to see Drax again, after all. Especially when considering Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled for a release sometime in 2020. True, he did turn to dust along with most of the other heroes at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, but something tells us the studio isn’t ready to discard the Destroyer from the MCU just yet.
