Daredevil Star Charlie Cox Doesn’t Know Anything About Thanos’ Snap

We always used to be told that "it's all connected" when it comes to both the movies and the TV shows of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And for a while that proved to be true. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s first season was massively changed by the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Daredevil season 1 explored the aftermath of The Avengers' Battle of New York. Since then, however, the two mediums have grown further apart.

We always used to be told that “it’s all connected” when it comes to both the movies and the TV shows of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And for a while that proved to be true. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s first season was massively changed by the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Daredevil season 1 explored the aftermath of The Avengers‘ Battle of New York. Since then, however, the two mediums have grown further apart.

Case in point: Avengers: Infinity War ends with something that should have reverberations throughout the MCU regardless of whether it’s on the big or small screen, as Thanos wipes out half of the entire universe with a snap of his fingers. However, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s season 5 finale didn’t reference this, and neither it seems will Marvel’s Netflix shows.

We know this because Daredevil star Charlie Cox was asked during a Q&A at the Comicpalooza convention if his character Matt Murdock had been affected by “the snap.” The actor reacted with confusion to the question, to which the panel moderator told him it was to do with Infinity War. Cox then revealed that he hasn’t even seen the movie yet. Though he clarified that’s only because he’s been busy working on Daredevil season 3.

For one thing, it’s kind of funny that someone who brings a Marvel superhero to life has not only missed Infinity War, but also managed to avoid all the spoilers. What’s more, Cox’s ignorance about Thanos’ snap confirms that it won’t play any part in the upcoming third season of Daredevil.

You might think we were misguided for expecting anything like this in the first place, but Jessica Jones season 2 did reference elements of Captain America: Civil War, specifically the Raft and how the Sokovia Accords have affected the rights of enhanced persons. It turns out, though, that we shouldn’t expect to see, say, Foggy Nelson turn to dust at the end of Daredevil season 3 when it arrives on Netflix later this year.
