It’s going on 10 years since MTV first announced a remake of Suspiria, the Italian horror frightfest from director Dario Argento and, oh, how far we’ve come.

Back then, it was rumored that Annihilation and former MCU star Natalie Portman was in contention to spearhead Suspiria as New York ballet student Suzy Bannion, the scream queen first portrayed by Jessica Harper all those years ago.

Fast forward to now, and Suspiria‘s second coming has fallen into place quite nicely, what with Amazon Studios and Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name) poised to deliver a “disturbing and gruesome” reimagining of the cult classic from ’77. And it looks like we won’t have to wait too much longer before we catch a glimpse of what’s in store, as the film’s first teaser trailer is due online next week.

As reported by the folks over at Bloody Disgusting, the official Suspiria Twitter account recently posted an actual trailer shot with the caption, “next week is going to be a trip.” Color us intrigued.

In fact, with an early November release date already locked in – just three short weeks after Halloween – it won’t be long before Amazon blows the dust off its hard-wired marketing machine, and the following synopsis ought to give you an idea of what to expect:

As a darkness builds at the center of a world-renown dance company, its artistic director (Swinton), a young American new to the troupe (Johnson), and a grieving psychotherapist (Ebersdorf) become entangled in a bloody, sighing nightmare.

Also starring Dakota Johnson, Chloe Grace-Moretz, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Sylvie Testud, Angela Winkler, Małgosia Bela and Lutz Ebersdorf, Luca Guadagnino and his team are expected to conjure up a new dose of terror when Suspiria slithers into theaters on November 2nd.
