Between them, Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story have emerged as three of 2018’s biggest box office titans. And the summer blockbuster season has only just begun.

Top of the pile is Marvel’s Infinity War, which has blown past all sorts of box office records on its journey to becoming the fourth highest-grossing movie, well, ever. Chances are it won’t top Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.068 billion) when all is said and done, though, as Forbes has crunched the numbers to reveal that Joe and Anthony Russo’s film is now simmering at $1.92 billion, and will in all likelihood break $1.95 billion at the global box office this coming weekend.

It’s one that will no doubt be dominated by Solo, given the Star Wars origins pic is only just entering its second weekend – and a crucial second weekend at that. For Deadpool 2, analysts predict another $20M haul over the next few days, which ought to be enough to put its domestic total ahead of Logan ($226M).

The good news just keeps coming for the Merc With a Mouth, too, what with Forbes reporting that Deadpool 2 has already earned more than most X-Men ensemble movies. Indeed, a $255m-$260m domestic total in just 17 days will propel the R-rated sequel high up the box office standings – just between Hangover Part II ($254.4m) and The Hangover ($277.3m) in North America.

And Avengers: Infinity War? It’ll lift another $9.5M at the U.S. box office this weekend, bringing its domestic total ($644M) to within an arm’s reach of Jurassic World ($652M) which, incidentally, is bracing for its own sequel (read: Fallen Kingdom) to hit theaters later this month.
