X-Men Star Evan Peters Says He’d Be Down For A Quicksilver Solo Movie

Fox might be about to merge with Disney (or maybe Comcast), but the X-Men movie universe is currently plowing ahead as it's always planned to, with many spinoffs from the mainstream franchise in the works. The list includes the long-suffering Gambit with Channing Tatum, Tim Miller's Kitty Pryde and James Franco as James "Multiple Man" Maddox. But could they be joined by a standalone adventure for Quicksilver?

That remains to be seen, but star Evan Peters sure hopes so. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the actor, who’s been part of the series since 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, said it would take him all of “one second” to agree to feature in his own spinoff as the speedy Peter Maximoff.

“I think that would be so fun. I mean, I love the special effects and the sequences and I love working with all those guys, so in one second I would do that.”

Of the current X-Men roster, Quicksilver would definitely be one of the strongest choices to branch off into his own vehicle. His super fast rescue scenes in both Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse were highlights of their respective films and easily the best on-screen depiction we’ve had of a speedster’s powers. A whole movie that made use of that could be great. Not to mention the fact that the character has a long comic book history to mine from.

Of course, we’ll next get to see Quicksilver play a meaty role in February’s Dark Phoenix. Peters has already teased that his character has grown up somewhat since we last saw him in Apocalypse, as Maximoff is now a firm member of the X-Men team and so has become more of a straight-up hero. But is he enough of a hero to helm his own movie? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
