After 10 years and 19 films – Avengers: Infinity War included – the Marvel Cinematic Universe is basically synonymous with post-credits scenes designed to set up the next chapter in the franchise. Or, in the case of Guardians of the Galaxy, revealing a happy little sapling so that audiences leave the theater with a smile on their face.

But the tragic ending of Infinity War deserved something a little more understated, and sure enough, the post-credits scene saw both Nick Fury and Maria Hill feeling the effects of the Mad Titan’s devastating snap, which destroyed half of all life in the universe. That includes the two former S.H.I.E.L.D agents, as well, but before he vanishes into thin air, Fury manages to send a message for help, one that goes out to none other than Captain Marvel.

It’s a great tease for what’s to come, but now, it’s been spoiled by a new international poster for the film. Arriving from China, the one-sheet in the gallery below was released to celebrate Infinity War earning $2.2 billion Yuan (about $343 million USD). Though as you can see, it has a massive spoiler on it.

This is, of course, the intergalactic transmitter used by Fury just as he was reduced to ash. And while that on its own may not have spoiled anything, the poster also chose to include Captain Marvel’s emblem on the device, ruining what’s perhaps the film’s best surprise. Then again, at this point, you’d have to imagine that almost everyone’s seen the movie – but it’s still an odd design choice for a piece of promo material.

Anyways, now that Avengers: Infinity War is doing gangbusters, it won’t be long before Carol Danvers receives her own time in the spotlight. Look for Captain Marvel to carve out a new corner of the MCU on March 8th, 2019.
