New Teen Titans Go! To the Movies Featurette Gives Us More Deathstroke

A brand new featurette for Teen Titans Go! To the Movies has made its way online this week and among other things, it gives us more Deathstroke.

When we think of the quintessential villains to have been a thorn in the side of DC’s more prominent adolescent heroes, it’s only understandable that Deathstroke be one of the first that come to mind. As such, it makes perfect sense that he show up in some capacity in this summer’s animated feature Teen Titans Go! To The Movies, right?

Usually, that slot’s been reserved for Ron Perlman, whom we know to have voiced the character in the TV series which paved the way for its big screen sibling. But in a way not dissimilar to how the studio acquired a bigger name to voice Superman in the form of Nicolas Cage, some recasting was apparently in order here.

When it comes to this particular iteration of Deathstroke, he’ll be voiced by none other than Will Arnett, who you can see in the new featurette above explaining what Slade will be getting up to in the film. Apparently, he’s looking to dominate the world, and it’s up to the Titans to stop him.

Plot details beyond that remain scarce, but the following synopsis also teases the other main thrust of the pic, which is the titular team heading to Hollywood to see if they can get a movie made about them.

It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies— everyone but the Teen Titans, that is! But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!

Teen Titans Go! To The Movies is set to open in theaters on July 27th and will be directed by Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail, from a screenplay by Michael Jelenic and Horvath. Scott Menville (Robin), Greg Cipes (Beast Boy), Khary Payton (Cyborg), Tara Strong (Raven) and Hynden Walch (Starfire) star.
