Avengers: Infinity War’s Dave Bautista Wants A Drax The Destroyer Movie

Avengers: Infinity War star Dave Bautista sounds like he'd be up for a Drax the Destroyer movie, even though we don't see that happening.

Now that the dust is beginning to settle from Avengers: Infinity War, and half of the frikin’ universe lies in ruins, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to determine who will live, and who will die. You know, really die. With a capital ‘D.’

Avengers 4 will undoubtedly herald the answers fans so crave, though considering the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth (among others) are fast approaching the end of their respective contracts, it’s all but certain that 2019 will signal the last hurrah for either Iron Man, Thor, Cap…or all three.

That said, we know that at least one fan favorite will be coming out of the fight against Thanos alive: Drax the Destroyer. Yes, the Guardian of the Galaxy is not currently amongst the living, having been reduced to nothing but dust thanks to the Mad Titan snapping his fingers, but come Avengers 4, Drax will be back, back, back. Dave Bautista has already confirmed as much, while also telling us that the character will be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Beyond those two films, though, what does the future hold for the beloved hero? Well, that’s still unclear, but if the actor gets his way, we might just see a Drax solo movie one day. Taking to Twitter, Bautista joked around that with Jared Leto’s Joker now set to receive his own standalone outing, the chances of the Destroyer getting one too have increased.

If this can happen then the chances of me getting a Drax movie have got to be astronomically high! Like so high that I’m going to stop tweeting and sit by the phone and wait for @MarvelStudios to call! ….any second now,” he Tweeted.

Hoping to get in on the fun as well, James Gunn hopped on Twitter shortly after and replied to his Guardians star, saying that he “just tried calling.” Guess Bautista missed it?

All joking aside, while many would love to see a Drax movie, the chances of it happening are slim to none. For one, it’s long been rumored that the actor actually wants out of the role soon and Gunn’s already said that after Vol. 3, the story of Star-Lord and co. will be at its end. Not to mention that it’s tough to see an entire film being built around the Destroyer, given that he’s better off as a supporting player.

Still, it’s nice to see the Avengers: Infinity War star having some fun on social media and with any luck, we’ll learn more about Drax’s MCU future over the coming months.
