This week alone, DC fans have been treated to a never-before-seen shot of Steppenwolf’s initial invasion, along with a detailed video essay designed to identify the areas in which DC movies still need to improve (spoilers: it involves action choreography and the incessant use of super-slow motion).

But for those curious to know more about the making of Justice League, Snyder and Enos have been incredibly forthcoming in regards to those set photos and top-secret concept art of DC’s finest in action. And today brings another batch to add to the growing collection.

First spotted by Heroic Hollywood, this artwork comes to us by way of Christian Scheurer, who specialized in the creation of Justice League‘s Parademons and their otherworldly lair. And so, down below you’ll be able to walk in the footsteps of Batman as Gotham’s Dark Knight journeys into the abyss in search of Steppenwolf.

Also included in the gallery above is a shot of Bats getting to grips with an Apokoliptian gun, which aligns with a previous storyboard of Ben Affleck’s musclebound vigilante preparing to take aim. All in all, each illustration is pretty incredible, and serves as a timely reminder of the sheer amount of work and craft that went into the making of Justice League – regardless of the film’s final performance.

Like it or loathe it, Justice League marked a defining moment in the history of Warner’s superhero franchise, and it’ll be followed by Aquaman, Shazam! and Wonder Woman 1984 (title pending) in the coming months.
