Paul Rudd And Evangeline Lilly Explain Where Ant-Man And The Wasp Were In Avengers: Infinity War

Practically every hero in the MCU took part in Avengers: Infinity War - every hero, that is, except for Hawkeye, Ant-Man and the Wasp. Focusing on the latter two, Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne were perhaps put on the bench because they'll soon get their own starring roles in next month's Ant-Man and the Wasp. But what do Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly think their characters were doing during Thanos' attack on Earth?

Practically every hero in the MCU took part in Avengers: Infinity War – every hero, that is, except for Hawkeye, Ant-Man and the Wasp. But what do Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly think their characters were doing during Thanos’ attack?

While chatting with NDTV, the duo were pressed for info on where Earth’s Tiniest Heroes were in Infinity War. Rudd decided to stick with the established explanation, reminding us that the movie did feature a brief line that revealed Scott was still under house arrest following his transgressions in Captain America: Civil War

“I remember going to see Infinity War and they do mention that I was under House Arrest and that I was not able to leave. There’s a lot going on, a lot going on.”

Lilly, meanwhile, went for a much more fun explanation, teasing that maybe the Wasp was there all along, but she was just so tiny we couldn’t see her. Much like when people thought they saw Ant-Man on the Infinity War poster. “For the record, I was there. I was just tiny,” Lilly said.

Rudd then decided that was true of his character, too. “Well maybe I was too small and you just couldn’t see me either,” the actor added, before admitting to Lilly, “I feel like I just piggybacked on your joke there.”

Of course, the Ant-Man 2 trailers have already expanded on Black Widow’s brief explanation for Scott’s whereabouts. After Cap broke him out of the Raft, it seems he made a deal in which he could see his family if he remained under house arrest. To avoid getting in similar trouble, Hope and her father Hank Pym went underground, even taking the Pym Tech tower with them.

As for why half the world isn’t turned to dust when Ant-Man and the Wasp begins, that’s because it’s set slightly earlier in the timeline and takes place back in 2016. While it might avoid dovetailing with Avengers: Infinity War then, it’s been theorized that it could help set up Avengers 4, instead when it crawls into theaters next month.
