Zack Snyder Hints That The Real Doomsday Didn’t Feature In Batman V Superman

Batman V Superman helmer Zack Snyder has hinted that the real Doomsday didn't actually feature in his DC crossover movie.

Ever since Zack Snyder set up an account on Vero, comic book fans have pored over every post – every like – to discover more about the filmmaker’s catalog of DC movies, beginning with the ill-fated Justice League.

But the director’s latest social media activity (h/t Heroic Hollywood) involves Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the DC tentpole sandwiched in between the events of Man of Steel and JL. It arrived bearing a metric ton of hype, and one need only cast their mind back to its announcement at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 for evidence of that.

As for Snyder’s latest post, though, and when asked about the film’s villain by a curious fan, he hinted that “yes, the real Doomsday is out there still,” which strongly implies that the CGI abomination glimpsed during Batman V Superman‘s finale isn’t the one he initially wanted.

Of course, as any comic book fan will tell you, Snyder’s crossover tweaked the villain’s origins to such an extent that he was created using the blood of Lex Luthor combined with General Zod’s DNA. Alas, a handful of DC enthusiasts took issue with these changes, and if nothing else, the director’s latest Vero post acknowledges that blowback.

Best known as the villain who killed the Man of Steel, many felt the adaptation of “Death of Superman” was glossed over in favor of a bland and overly generic story. And Doomsday? He/it was caught up in the middle of all this, resulting in an utterly forgettable rendition of the world-famous DC villain.

For Zack Snyder, his involvement in the DCEU has scaled back quite considerably, though we understand he’ll still receive a producer credit on Wonder Woman 1984, which is now filming ahead of its release late next year.
