A recent interview with Variety at the the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards saw the actress describe the tough physical demands of the role, which will likely keep her occupied for many years to come. At that same event, Larson also hinted at the effects that such a time-consuming, high profile gig could have on the people closest to her.

There’s a lot about it that felt like a big decision and it’s not just a big decision for myself, it’s a big decision for my family and my partner and for my friends. It’s a big change for everybody and I wasn’t sure if it was the right thing for me.

Fortunately, after Marvel gave her the time she needed to mull it over, she felt ready to fully commit to playing the part of Carol Danvers.

I never want to do, make artistic decisions that will feel like a burden or that would take me away from the parts of my life that I find fulfilling so Marvel was super patient and allowed me a lot of time to think it over and then once I felt like I had made the right decision which was doing it I got both feet in and I’m really happy.

It’s nice to know that she’s happy with her choice, seeing how the talk at the moment is that Larson’s character be taking the lead for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Will all of this time and effort pay off, though? We’ll find out when Captain Marvel hits cinemas on March 8th.
