New Ant-Man And The Wasp Promo Plays Up The Avengers: Infinity War Connection

Practically every hero in the MCU took part in Avengers: Infinity War - every hero, that is, except for Hawkeye, Ant-Man and the Wasp. Focusing on the latter two, Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne were perhaps put on the bench because they'll soon get their own starring roles in next month's Ant-Man and the Wasp. That doesn't mean Marvel isn't playing up the connection between the two films though, as the new promo above actually features footage from the recent event movie, before segueing into Peyton Reed's upcoming sequel.

Yes, as you can see, this trailer begins with shots of several of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, telling us that “everything you’ve experienced has all led to this.” In fact, it could even be the start of a preview for Avengers 4. But then the gears change rather abruptly and we’re thrown into Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the laughs start coming a mile a minute. There’s a bit of new material here, too, with Scott having a rather humorous exchange with his old crew.

From there, it’s more of the same, with the promo acting to outline the basic plot of the sequel, which sees Scott and Hope – Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, respectively – on an urgent mission to recover Janet Van Dyne (AKA the original Wasp) from the murky depths of the Quantum Realm.

Doing so won’t be easy, of course, especially when you consider that Scott’s initial trip opened up a tear through which Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost was able to escape. And just like Yellowjacket, she possesses powers of her own, and is capable of walking through solid objects (and dimensions?) in order to blindside her enemies.

Buoyed a stellar cast and the hype leftover from Infinity WarAnt-Man and the Wasp is expected to make a beeline for theaters on July 6th – save for the United Kingdom, where the Peyton Reed-directed sequel isn’t due to arrive until August 3rd, 28 days after the fact.
