Following in the blood-stained footsteps of House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, the prolific filmmaker is now finished production on his sequel to the latter – titled 3 From Hell – and will begin editing it together at the end of the summer. There’s just one problem, though, and that’s that given what we saw the last time they were on screen, the three main characters shouldn’t still be amongst the living.

More than a decade ago, Rejects ended with its eponymous clan dead (or so it seemed), and fans have been furiously speculating about how exactly Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis (Bill Moseley), and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) are back in action for the threequel. The specifics surrounding how they got from where they were in the last film to where they are now are still a bit unclear, but a new photo – which you can see below – has been summoned online via Zombie’s Instagram page today and it came accompanied with the caption: Another Three From Hell exclusive! Baby is removed from court after yet another violent outburst. I think her t-shirt sums up her feelings on the subject. (Notice the bullet wounds on her arms).

Though the pic itself isn’t terribly revealing, the caption certainly is. With the director pointing out the bullet wounds, it’s clear that the Firefly trio did indeed survive that shootout at the climax of Rejects and have simply been in prison ever since. With that in mind, we can now put all those theories to bed which claimed that the finale of the aforementioned film was a dream sequence, or that Baby, Otis and Captain Spaulding died and went to hell, where they were rejected and spit back out.

Unfortunately, 3 From Hell – which also stars Danny Trejo, Daniel Roebuck, Austin Stoker and Dee Wallace – won’t be with us until some point in 2019, but Moseley’s already assured fans via Facebook that “when this movie comes out, your guys’s mindsies are gonna be big time blown!” And while it’s nothing new to see an actor hype up a project they’re starring in, you can certainly color us excited.
