We are, at the time of writing, precisely two weeks out from Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s U.S. release, and Marvel Studios has today rolled out the official Japanese trailer, along with an extended featurette, to drum up excitement.
The former essentially teases more of the same – albeit with a sliver of new footage – while the featurette reminds comic book movie fans that sometimes it takes two in order to get the job done.
That job, as previous trailers have revealed, involves a daring rescue attempt, as Scott Lang escapes house arrest to spearhead a mission into the Quantum Realm. It’s the reality in which all concepts of time and space become irrelevant, so it’s fair to say that Scott and Hope are up against it. Making matters worse is the sudden introduction of Ghost, who clawed her way out of the Quantum Realm just as Scott devised his own escape at the end of the first movie.
As we inch closer and closer to release, we’ve also caught wind that Ant-Man and the Wasp may be hiding a secret Marvel villain in plain sight (Egghead, perhaps?), so it’ll be interesting to discover what tricks Peyton Reed has lurking up his sleeve in two weeks’ time.
Ant-Man and the Wasp makes a beeline for U.S. theaters on July 6th, before making its way across the pond in time for August 3rd. That’s a full 28 days later than expected, so you can understand why Marvel’s UK fanbase are a little peeved by the lengthy interlude. It seems they can blame the World Cup for the delay, though.
