Jason Statham Narrowly Avoids The Meg On Epic New Poster

Whether it be Steven Spielberg’s trendsetting 1975 release Jaws, Alexander Aja’s nauseatingly gory Piranha 3D, or Jaume Collet-Serra’s surprisingly sturdy The Shallows, summer just isn’t the same without an excellent subaquatic fright flick to get your blood pumping. And as Jon Turteltaub’s (National Treasure) sunken nightmare inches ever closer, we wholly expect that The Meg will deliver the teeth and testosterone to join the subaquatic pantheon.

Described as this year’s guilty pleasure, and possibly the ultimate popcorn-movie, The Meg – scheduled to bring the blockbuster season to a close on August 10th – has provided us with some of 2018’s most noteworthy posters. Accordingly, earlier today, the adaptation of Steve Alten’s New York Times bestselling book Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror unleashed perhaps its best one yet, which you can check out below.

While it won’t be the talk of award season next year, except maybe the Razzies, – although, crazier things have happened – The Meg has got brainless blockbuster written all over it, and we couldn’t be more ecstatic.

Simply put, if the very thought of watching Jason Statham go to war with a primeval predator on a blistering summer night isn’t enough to get you perspiring, then you don’t know compelling cinema. On the other hand, if witnessing brain-dead tourists get what they have coming to them, namely being chomped to bits, then The Meg might be for you. Maybe take a swimming lesson, or two, first though.
