Ant Man and the Wasp

Did Paul Rudd Just Spoil The Post-Credits Scene Of Ant-Man And The Wasp?

In a move that might potentially confuse some audience members when Ant-Man and the Wasp releases on July 6th, the film is set long before the apocalyptic events of Avengers: Infinity War. In fact, it's actually set in the aftermath of 2016's Captain America: Civil War, in which Paul Rudd's Ant-Man played a large - some might say giant - part.

But, in an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Rudd hinted that the film’s post-credits scene may actually tie directly into the events of the aforementioned Infinity War. Granted, the sequence in question has already been revealed online by numerous outlets, but the actor’s words here are still pretty spoiler-y.

“People have asked me about this one (Avengers 4) and this…alright, I don’t know if I’m supposed to say this but I’ll say it, it happens kind of concurrently and it’s very important because it doesn’t exist in a vacuum. You have to stay through to the end because once you see this thing through those post-credit scenes…there’s some mind-blowing stuff in there that kind of ties into Infinity War and it’s uh…I think I messed up. I think I messed up yeah.”

We won’t get too far into specifics, as we don’t want to spoil anything further for you, but any scene tying strongly into Infinity War‘s ending would have to deal with the moment Thanos finally acquired all the Infinity Stones and carried out his promise of killing half of all sentient life. In that film, we watched as characters from across the entire Marvel universe started to crumble into dust. Could some of Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s cast fall victim to the Mad Titan’s devastating actions, too? It’s certainly possible.

We already know that Rudd’s Scott Lang is going to appear in Avengers 4, and Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne/the Wasp will be suiting up alongside him. But that leaves Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, Michael Peña’s loveable Luis and maybe Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne in the firing line. Will they all make it out alive, or could we see Thanos claim some of their lives in Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s post-credits scene?

Again, we won’t spoil anything, but you’ll be able to find out for yourself next week, when the pic opens on July 6th.
